Marleyzard, along with Urswine has the highest base HP stat of all Fire-type Pokémon.
If you listen very closely to its cry, you can faintly hear "smoke weed everyday".
At one point, Marleyzard were hunted almost to extinction over the death of a Piguson, after one shot the Sheriff of Fochun in self-defense.
If you rearrange the three digits of Marleyzard's base experience yield, they can read as "420". However, there are only eight bits alloted to base experience yields, limiting them to a maximum of 255, which 420 exceeds. This will be fixed if and when it is decided once and for all that the Clover sequel will go into development.
On April Fools' Day 2019, Marleyzard was given a fake alternate form called "Harvzard," a Grass/Electric type. The main design difference was the tail flame being replaced with a light bulb, and the bong on its head being replaced with a mortarboard.
Marleyzard is based on the idea of smoking weed and a lizard. Its hat contains the flag of Jamaica, a country famous for its weed. The blue coloration of its shiny sprite could be a reference to the Union Jack, the flag that flies where singer Eric Clapton, who recorded the best-known cover of Bob Marley's song "I Shot The Sheriff", hails from.
It also appears to take influence from Charizard, judging by the overall shape, its name, and the flame on its tail.
Marleyzard is named after the Jamaican musician, Bobbart Marley, who believed marijuana was a healing herb and smoked weed ev'ry day. Marleyzard's name also comes from lizard, and might also be a reference to Charizard.
